PAYing Attention to Detail

During the course of a water damage restoration, mold remediation and even down to a pack out of a property, paying attention to detail is key! In what ways?

 

Most water damages commonly are sudden and accidental. For instance, a broken pipe, water heater breaks, or sewage backup. All of these can happen at 2pm in the afternoon or 2am in the morning. Due to the emergency nature of the work it's important that safety takes priority. Once that step has been accomplished, we can move on to mitigating damages.

 

First, it's key that photos are taken. By taking photos you are able to have proper documentation of the damages. It also serves to justify actions taken during the course of the water damage loss. If this important detail is missed, you will PAY for NOT paying attention to detail. 

 

Secondly, there is no such thing as a small detail. During a water damage or mold removal project, your property becomes a "work zone." When doing repairs after a loss,  for example, screws to cover plates or the cover plates themselves, vent covers, window screens, plumbing parts, etc. will be removed and it makes a world of difference to have the item(s) still on site and usable. While these "small details" or items are replaceable, it is not always the case with all items. For example, an antique or heirloom. In this case, PAYing attention to detail it is crucial which means the restoration company you hire should: 1) Take a photo along with detail information; and 2) Store it safely. If these steps are not followed you are at risk of losing items, going through the hassle of finding a similar piece.

 

Lastly, communication is important. Hiring a Contractor that maintains ongoing communication with you will ensure you understand the process and what to expect.
