Fire and Smoke Damage

Fire Damage Restoration

Fire or Smoke Damage to Your Home or Business?

Since each fire is different, so is the damage caused by it. Therefore, there is no specific or set procedures to follow. Instead, the Restoration Industry Association (RIA) has formulated recommended restoration practices that focus on the following:

An unbiased, professional point of view.

Thorough inspection and diagnosis of damage.

Sensitivity to the feelings and needs of the victims.

Possession of requisite technical knowledge and experience.

Open communication of professional opinions.

Use of basic remedies in preference to superficial treatments.

Safe and ecologically-aware application of restoration materials.

Adherence to applicable codes and standards.

Is a fire loss a covered claim?

Each policy is different and it depends on your specific policy. Make sure to call your insurance agent and/or adjuster to find out if the loss is covered in your policy.

How much will my insurance covered?

If fire loss is a covered insurance loss, your insurance will pay any covered invoices up to your policy limit mines your deductible which you are responsible for. You can find your policy limit in your policy or by contacting your agent.

How long will the restoration process take?

Before any restoration starts, local authorities and your insurance will need to conclude their investigation on the fire loss. This process may take time depending on their turnaround time. As for the restoration, the length of time varies on the extent of the damage.

Is it necessary to hire a professional to cleanup up small fire damage?

While small fires may visually seem to cause minimal damage, cleaning the soot and getting rid of lingering odors is the most difficult part.
